Seoul, Korea, June 17, 2025 — Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) is set to reignite the electric racing thrill at the 2024/2025 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship (hereafter Formula E) as the series makes its long-awaited return to Jakarta on June 21. Following a one-season hiatus, Round 12 of Season 11 takes place at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (hereafter JIEC), situated adjacent to the glistening Ancol shoreline.
Building on its acclaimed debut in Season 8, Jakarta channels the unmatched energy of 27 million Indonesian motorsport fans into Formula E’s highly anticipated return. Measuring 2.37km, the JIEC offers a dynamic mix of racing elements—from a high-speed opening sector to sweeping corners and a tight, technical final complex. Inspired by the fluid and trance-like movements of the traditional Javanese Kuda Lumping dance, the track demands driver focus, physical endurance, and strategic tire management to the limit under Jakarta’s sweltering tropical heat.
To meet these demands, every team will rely on the GEN3 Evo iON Race tire, engineered exclusively by Hankook for Formula E. Featuring an advanced tread design and optimized rubber compound, the tire delivers enhanced grip, stability, and thermal resistance—critical for Jakarta’s harsh race conditions.
Sustainability also remains central to Hankook’s vision for electric motorsport innovation. The GEN3 Evo iON Race tire is made from 35% sustainable materials—including natural rubber and recycled fibers—and is engineered for durability throughout the race day. After each event, used tires are fully recovered and processed through Hankook’s certified recycling program to minimize environmental impact throughout the tire’s life cycle.
“Jakarta delivers a unique blend of technical complexity and extreme climate. It’s a true proving ground for drivers and tire management,” said Maximilian Günther, the DS Penske driver and winner of 2023 Gulavit Jakarta E-Prix (Race 10), and most recently, the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix (Race 3) and 2025 Hankook Shanghai E-Prix (Race 10). “The enhanced grip of the GEN3 Evo iON Race tire allows us to push harder through technical sectors without sacrificing traction. We’ve already observed gains during simulator sessions, and we’re optimistic about translating that into on-track performance.”
As Formula E’s exclusive tire supplier and official technical partner, Hankook continues to push the boundaries of high-performance, eco-conscious motorsport—advancing e-mobility innovation not only on the racetrack, but across real-world roads and markets throughout Asia and beyond.
