Seoul, Korea, July 8, 2025 — Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) is set to drive electric racing excellence as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship (hereafter Formula E) returns to the German capital for the 2025 Hankook Berlin E-Prix, a back-to-back race weekend taking place on July 12 and 13. As the exclusive tire supplier and official technical partner of Formula E, Hankook is once again gearing up to support all 22 drivers with its state-of-the-art GEN3 Evo iON Race tire at one of the most iconic venues in the series.
The 2025 Hankook Berlin E-Prix represents Rounds 13 and 14 out of 16 in Season 11, positioning it as a critical showdown ahead of the London season finale. As the first of two European double-headers, the event holds a unique place in the championship’s legacy, with just two races remaining after Berlin.
The venue for this weekend’s race, Berlin’s historic Tempelhof Airport circuit, has played host to some of Formula E’s most iconic moments—including two of only four Grand Slams ever recorded in the championship’s history. One of them came from Germany’s own Daniel Abt, who achieved the rare feat of securing pole position, fastest lap, leading every lap, and winning the race in a flawless home-soil performance.
Berlin is the only city to have featured in every Formula E season, cementing its legacy in electric racing. The Tempelhof circuit is also renowned for its highly abrasive concrete slabs—originally built to support military aircraft—which generate elevated tire wear and thermal load. Its wide, open apron layout enables varied racing lines and strategic overtaking opportunities, placing a heavy emphasis on tire durability, thermal control, and race-day adaptability.
To meet these demands, tire performance will be more critical than ever. Hankook’s GEN3 Evo iON Race tire, engineered specifically for Formula E’s GEN3 Evo race cars, delivers class-leading grip, braking control, and structural stability, setting the stage for decisive battles in Berlin. Made with 35% sustainable materials and optimized for race-long consistency, the tire ensures energy efficiency and strategic execution while aligning with Formula E’s rigorous sustainability standards.
“Tempelhof is one of the most technically complex venues in the Formula E calendar, where consistency and adaptability are everything,” said Manfred Sandbichler, Senior Director of Hankook Motorsports. “Hankook’s GEN3 Evo iON Race tire delivers the kind of stability and responsiveness drivers can rely on when everything is on the line.”
As the season nears its finale, every corner, every lap, and every tire choice could determine the championship outcome. In Berlin, where Formula E’s legacy, speed, and sustainability intersect, Hankook once again leads the way, pushing for precision, performance, and a sustainable motorsport future on the track and beyond.
